There aren’t two other women I’d rather share the inaugural USCX series podium with. I’m thankful to have Maghalie and Caroline toeing the line against me here in the US to push and prep me for the stage in Europe. Not only are they fierce competitors they are also extremely kind but they offer advice & scope pre ride lines. We talk tire pressures, which kit to wear, as well as some friendly trash talk. Competitors between the tape, but friends once we cross the line. These women make me a better ‘crosser!

Raylyn Nuss takes third place in the overall standings of the USCX series and the highest placed American rider. The inaugural USCX series is complete, and it did not disappoint. From the hot dust bowl of Charm City CX to the wet mud bath of Kings CX, it was an enthralling series. Day 1 of the Kings CX was in conditions more familiar with North American CX this time of year.  A fast paced start saw Rochette power off the front pulling McGill and Mani in her wake. Rochette then took the race into her own control to leave Mani and McGill battling for second. Bernstein and Gunsalus had great rides to take 4th and 5th. Then there was a big group battling for the top 10. Nuss would roar past the group gaining on 4th/5th place, but would struggle with several mishaps that would cause her to drop back and have to fight to pass the group several times throughout the race. Although she had the speed and power of the top three, a series of crashes saw her stuck fighting in the pack and taking home 6th on the day.

Rain made day two a different story, and a proper mudder! A powerful start saw Nuss right at the front early on, Rochette to the race into her own hands again with Mani, Munro and Nuss left to battle for the podium spots. The mud made the race super exciting to watch and places changed hands regularly as different riders struggled and performed well in different sections. Although Raylyn didn’t get the podium she was craving, riding home in fourth, it was another strong performance as one the most consistent riders in North America. Taking third overall in the USCX series is a huge achievement for Nuss and the team, behind two truly formidable riders. Not only did Raylyn take third overall but she finished the series as the highest placed American rider, with the season only just getting going this sets us up for an exciting European block, Nationals and Worlds! Lets Go!
